I Love Trekking Nepal offers a great trekking journey on the Tamang Heritage Trail from the Langtang towards the Ganesh Himal mountain range. The Tamangs, a tribe from the mid and high hills and of Burmo-Tibetan descent, are the largest ethnic group in the Kathmandu-BHaktapur-Lalitpur area and as far as Lamjung Himal. Their rich cultural traditions are very similar to those of the Sherpas of the Ningmapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. This trek leads to various settlements from the outskirts of Kathmandu towards Nuwakott Tamang, then close to Helambu and back to Rasuwa densely populated by Tamang people. This fabulous trip passes from the sub-tropical region to alpine and artic like zones, with fantastic views of the high snow peaks of Langtang to Ganesh Himal with Annapurna and Manaslu to the far west and Jugal mountain the east.

This trip is indeed classic Nepalese ridge walking. This adventure is one of the most outstanding journeys in the whole Himalaya Range, from the Langtang trail to the footsteps of the earlier pioneer Bill Tillman, who explored this area in 1949. It starts east of Kathmandu valley at Sundarijal. The path climbs through the farm fields, villages and into the serene forest of oak, pine and rhododendron. After a marvelous journey, this trek ends at Trisuli Bazaar with a drive back to Kathmandu.
